The exhibition *Freedom of Art* explores the central question of autonomy, independence, and responsibility in contemporary artistic practice. It examines how artistic freedom can be understood not only as formal freedom but also as a socially impactful dimension—within the tension between individual creativity, institutional frameworks, and political and cultural contexts.

As part of the "Thursdays at Three" event series at the Hotel Austria, author Teresa Hrdlicka will be reading from her book *Composers on Summer Retreat in Bad Ischl*.

Composers, librettists, opera divas, actors, Burgtheater stars, and theater directors gathered every summer in Bad Ischl to write, compose, rehearse, negotiate, and sign contracts.
Teresa Hrdlicka focuses on seven composers who had close ties to the imperial spa town and whose works remain part of the classical music canon to this day.

Teresa Hrdlicka studied musicology, Romance languages, and cello in Vienna. She worked for the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna and served as a research consultant for the Da Ponte Institute in Vienna. She has published articles, essays, and concert programs for the Vienna Philharmonic, the Vienna State Opera, and the Vienna Musikverein, among others.

With the reading “Facets of Love,” the popular speaker returns to the museum on Friday, June 26, at 4 p.m., after a three-year absence; during his 17 years there, he has already given 148 readings. As always, he will be accompanied on the piano by Ralph Petruschka.

Wolfram Huber takes the fact that love is arguably the most important and multifaceted theme of our lives as an opportunity to explore this topic from various perspectives, drawing on the works of many authors—sometimes in a lighthearted, sometimes in a serious, and sometimes in a passionate manner. The range of works spans from Erich Kästner, Eugen Roth, and Wilhelm Busch, through Stefan Zweig, Erich Fried, Else Lasker-Schüler, Marie Madeleine, Mascha Kaleko, and others, to Rainer Maria Rilke, the 100th anniversary of whose death we are commemorating this year. The program will also feature music by Emmerich Kálmán, Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt, and others.

In the meantime, Wolfram Huber has completed his 1,200th evening and is looking forward to the three readings scheduled for this summer in Bad Ischl (Thu., July 23, and Sat., Sept. 5).

The Hotel Austria—Museum of the City of Bad Ischl—can be visited free of charge from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on this day upon presentation of both the Bad Ischl Vorteilscard and the Kulturcard.

You can also take part in the guided tour of the museum at 2 p.m. for free upon presentation of both cards.

The Bad Ischl Advantage Card (for residents whose primary residence is in Bad Ischl) and the Culture Card can be picked up during business hours at the municipal citizen services office.

As part of the spa music program, the Spa Quartet performs in the garden of the Hotel Austria—Museum of the City of Bad Ischl.
